PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
       
  • All new 1 and 2 story homes
  • Additions that increase the physical dimensions of a building
  • Alterations to the building structure
  • Alterations to the buildings heating, electrical or plumbing systems
  • All HVAC (new, remodeling or replacement equipment)
  • All plumbing (new or remodeling)
  • Commercial buildings
  • Accessory structures

    PERMITS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
           
  • Re-siding
  • Re-roofing unless a third layer of roofing material is added
  • Finishing interior surfaces - contact building inspector to confirm need for permit
  • Installing cabinetry - contact building inspector to confirm need for permit
  • Normal repairs to HVAC and plumbing
  • Repairs to electrical equipment or systems (e.g. receptacles or switches)

    New Commercial Structure     $200.00
    Addition to a commercial structure     $120.00
    Remodeling commercial structure     $  95.00
    New house (single residential)     $125.00
    New house (duplex or multi-family)     $150.00
    Addition to residential (all types)     $  70.00
    Remodel to residential     $  35.00
    Garage     $  35.00
    Storage building (for rental)     $140.00
    Storage building     $  10.00
    Deck or patio     $  10.00
    Driveway     $  10.00
    Furnace or air conditioner     $  10.00
    Relocate mobile home     $  10.00

           
  • Cost for any project not listed above to be determined by the Village Board.
  • Building permits are to be taken out before starting a project.
  • Work started before the permit is issued, or if no permit, is subject to permit cost being doubled.
  • Permits are good for one year, then renewable.
  • Permits must be posted in view of the project.
